Queen’s Hall Arts Centre is offering free drama workshops for Years 4 – 9 in schools in West Northumberland.
The sessions will be led by the experienced drama leaders who currently run Queen’s Hall Youth Theatre.
The workshop is designed to give pupils a practical and experience of how professional performers and theatre-makers can take an idea, image, or other stimulus and develop it into a piece of drama.
The leaders will also talk to the pupils about their route to working in theatre and provide information about some of the careers in the performing arts.
Throughout the workshop, pupils will have the opportunity to:
- Develop their creativity and imagination by exploring different ways of responding to a stimulus.
- Build confidence in expressing ideas and performing in front of others.
- Strengthen collaboration and communication skills through practical group work.
- Develop problem-solving skills as they make creative decisions and shape their own performance material.
- Experience a fun, practical and pupil-led session that encourages experimentation and creative risk-taking.
In order to run the workshop, we will need a space where the pupils can move around, such as a hall or a classroom without tables in.
- The workshop is suitable for up to 35 pupils in Years 4 to 9.
- It will be 2 hours long, although we can discuss this with you to fit in with your timetable.
- There will be morning and afternoon sessions available.
- Workshops will take place from October 2026 – February 2027.
- There is no cost to your school.
